Product Development Specialist | Thailand (South Thailand Branch)
About the role
The Product Development Specialist for Southern Thailand is responsible for maintaining the product portfolio for their specific area. This involves negotiating contracts with suppliers and controlling net costs for local suppliers in the Southern Thailand region. The key objective of this role is to keep the product portfolio updated, conduct ongoing research into tourism industry services, independently perform benchmarking, create new products and conduct product training for internal teams. In this role, you will report directly to the Product Development Manager for Thailand. This role is based in our Phuket office.
Responsibilities
- Assist with collecting and negotiating contracts with suppliers in the Southern Thailand area, including Krabi, Phuket, Khao Lak, Koh Samui and minor islands;
- Supervise and manage a specific product list for Asian Trails’ Southern Thailand branches, including activities, transfers and tour packages;
- Implement, update, code and maintain Asian Trails’ tariffs;
- Manage tariffs and handle standard cost control and updates;
- Conduct regular market and competitor research (benchmarking) for the development of new products in the South Thailand area;
- Conduct inspection visits, quality control and health and safety checks with our main suppliers in the Southern Thailand area;
- Lead product creation/development in coordination with the Sourcing Team;
- Assist the manager in contracting and negotiation with new or existing suppliers in the South Thailand area;
- Provide regular updates on projects, market news and new suppliers;
- Ensure the correct implementation of our corporate sustainability guidelines;
- This role reports directly to the Product Development Manager in Thailand.
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience in a similar position in the travel industry;
- Good knowledge of Southern Thailand travel products;
- Proficient in Thai and English languages, both oral and written;
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, cooperation and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel and Word;
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Experience in negotiating agreements and conditions with local suppliers;
- Ability to handle multiple projects and effectively manage different timelines;
- A current driver’s license.
