Corporate
An internationally recognized Destination Management Company operating throughout
East and South East Asia, Asian Trails’ vision is to continuously develop
new travel opportunities and business relationships in a mutually beneficial way.
Our Facts and Figures
Established on the auspicious date of 9th September 1999, the team behind Asian Trails founded the company with the vision to blaze new paths in travel. A small team of skilled and respected travel professionals, with decades of combined experience in the Destination Management industry, envisioned a company that continues to touch the entrepreneurial spirit throughout its business model. Founded by our current Chairman, Luzi Matzig and CEO Laurent Kuenzle and other passionate confidents in the inbound industry, Asian Trails’ unrivalled approach saw the company grow rapidly.
Bound by the principle to be the most preferred Destination Management Company (DMC) in Asia that provides excellent value for money, efficient and effective solutions and develop and strengthen business relationships as defined for our customers by our employees and stakeholders across our offices in Asia.
We believe in building and maintaining professional, win-win relationships with our employees, customers, preferred partners, and all our business partners in order to achieve mutual success.
Aligned that support on bespoke travel options requires being present across the globe, the company takes great pride in being able to serve its customers in its own time zone. This presence of having carefully-selected sales representatives across continents has enabled Asian Trails to enlarge its network and assistance in their own language – a sales and representation formula that has benefitted our business-to-business customers up until today.
With success comes interest from 3rd parties. Aside from maintaining a local ownership with our regional business partners, the Kuoni Travel Group emerged as the first worldwide player to acquire the company in 2006, followed by the Fairfax Holding Canada / Thomas Cook India (both companies are published stock exchange entities) in 2017 with a major share in the company. The returning of co-ownership to Luzi and Laurent, along with local shareholders, ensured the company’s vision forward in delivering exceptional travel services via state-of-the-art technology and operating responsibly in all Asian destinations.
We are committed to honesty, loyalty, and a high standard of ethical conduct in dealing with each other. We trust, help and respect not only each other and treat each other with understanding but also all our customers, partners and suppliers
Now, with own operations in key destinations throughout Asia Pacific (including Australia under the Australian Tours Management brand), Asian Trails’ new owners –with Luzi and Laurent remaining firmly at the helm – guarantee the ongoing nurturing of the Asian Trails brand since 1999. The global recognition of its multi-lingual set-up, delivering exemplary travel experiences in 6 major languages, is a testimony of breaking away from a ‘one size fits all’ concept and enabling true ownership of the customer’s brand through a single contact in Asia.
Asian Trails’ award-winning vision is unrivalled and continues to operate with an entrepreneurial view in the regional Asian inbound tourism industry by continuously developing new opportunities and relationships with esteemed players in the global tour leisure travel and MICE industry.
As of 2018, Asian Trails handles around 320.000 guests annually across its 8 main destinations and employs 720 full-time passionate colleagues throughout East and South East Asia.
We believe our success depends upon our leadership and management teams’ abilities to focus and execute their mission on schedule with an entrepreneurial mind
